Coffee from Colombia
A Reputation Built on Quality
Colombia is the world's third-largest coffee producer and arguably the most recognized origin for quality Arabica. Its diverse geography — three Andean mountain ranges, varied microclimates, and altitudes from 1,200 to 2,200 meters — creates ideal conditions for growing exceptional coffee.
Key Growing Regions
Huila
Colombia's most acclaimed specialty region. Huila coffees are known for vibrant acidity, tropical fruit sweetness, and chocolate undertones. Many Cup of Excellence winners originate here.
Nariño
Located near the Ecuadorian border at extreme altitudes, Nariño produces intensely sweet, complex coffees with bright citrus acidity and floral hints.
Tolima
An emerging region with fantastic potential, offering balanced cups with caramel sweetness and red fruit notes.
The Coffee Triangle (Eje Cafetero)
The traditional heartland — Caldas, Quindío, and Risaralda — produces classic Colombian profiles: balanced, nutty, medium body with gentle acidity.
What Makes Colombian Coffee Special?
- Year-round harvest — two harvest seasons (main and mitaca) ensure fresh supply
- Smallholder farming — over 500,000 small farms, each with unique microclimate
- Washed processing — the dominant method, producing clean, bright cups
- Variety diversity — Caturra, Castillo, Colombia, Typica, and Pink Bourbon
