Coffee Myths Debunked
The Biggest Coffee Myths
Many myths surround coffee. Time to clear up the most common misconceptions.
Myth: Espresso Has More Caffeine Than Filter Coffee
False! Per cup, filter coffee (200ml) contains about 80-120mg caffeine, an espresso (30ml) only about 50-70mg. Espresso has more caffeine per milliliter - but you drink much less of it.
Myth: Coffee Dehydrates
False! Studies show moderate coffee consumption doesn't have a dehydrating effect. Coffee counts toward fluid intake.
Myth: Dark Roast Is Stronger
Misleading. "Stronger" in taste yes - more caffeine no. Light roasts actually contain slightly more caffeine, as roasting breaks down caffeine.
Myth: Store Coffee in the Fridge
False! The fridge is humid and full of odors. Coffee absorbs both. Better: dark, cool, and airtight at room temperature.
Myth: Boiling Water for Coffee
False! 100°C burns the coffee and makes it bitter. Ideal: 92-96°C.
